Extreme rainfall trend map
This might be of interest to some (light reading for a rainy day)... http://climateparkchange.net/#/map/Extreme-Precipitation-Event And I'd love to hear comments from anyone familiar with this effort.
I like that they are using actual recorded data for this rather than results of unverified computer models.
My one question is the reliability of comparing two consecutive eleven / twelve year periods; 1997 - 2008 and 2009 - 2020. I do not see whether the potential of decadal climate oscillation was considered in the assessment and resulting conclusions. It would be a pity if the observations were actually climate oscillations which were then reported as climate change. This would be easy to address by extending the time periods back in time to include more years.
This is a very interesting presentation. I tend to agree with you Jim, though not necessarily on the choice of period length (11/12 year) but rather the use of only two periods. Maybe the change from 1997-2008 to 2009-2020 is significant but absent comparisons to other periods it's hard to make that conclusion.
